Specialty Automotive Service & Repair opened its doors in Bend, OR in 1981. They helped thousands of customers keep their vehicles in top running condition.

After almost 30 years, Craig and Heidi Simpson took over the reins in January 2021, where they are continuing the traditions that have made the shop a fixture of Bend's business community. These traditions include excellence of work, customer satisfaction, and family values. Our team of certified technicians can handle just about any automotive issue that come our way, including auto maintenance, repair, replacement services – and, especially, electrical issues, which are a so-called specialty of ours. As a locally owned large repair garage in Central Oregon, Specialty automotive is committed to providing great customer service and high quality auto repair services in a timely manner.

Get To Know The Simpsons

Craig and Heidi Simpson are native Oregonians and have raised their three children here. Craig has always had an interest in cars, and jumped at the chance to acquire Specialty Automotive Service & Repair when it was looking for new owners. The Simpsons continue to run the shop as it has always been run – as a family business, with quality service.

One of Craig and Heidi’s biggest personal goals is to give their kids a life of fun and adventure, and to create memorable experiences. They have a 10-acre farm that has a hay field, pond, and room for a few horses, cows, pigs, and chickens.

Between Specialty Automotive Service & Repair and the farm, the Simpson family has a full plate. That’s why they value the team of certified technicians who have been with the shop for many years, and whose expertise and dedication make drivers feel confident about bringing in their vehicles for service or repair.

All our technicians are ASE certified, with backgrounds in both foreign and domestic automotive service. They are skilled in all kinds of auto repairs, and can help you whether you simply need an oil change or need more serious work done. Plus, they undergo continuous training through outside classes, and regularly attend professional technicians' seminars to obtain new certifications. We are proud to introduce you to our team!

Joaquin Valdez

Senior Technician

Joaquin has been our senior technician since 2004. He is very knowledgeable and very precise, especially when it comes to electrical systems, which he loves troubleshooting and repairing. He will find the most hidden problem, and make the vehicle tick correctly again. Joaquin's bilingual capabilities are a great asset to our clients as well. Sometimes English is difficult to understand, and he closes the gap between English and Spanish almost seamlessly.
